The U.S. EPA Region 10 office used an adaptive site management approach that relied on high-resolution site characterization techniques to help definite treatment area at Commencement Bay-South Tacoma Channel Superfund site. The Well 12A ROD is first specifying mass discharge reduction using excavation, in situ thermal (ERH), followed by heat enhanced "bioremediation".
