NAPL Area 3

The ERH remediation in NAPL Area 3 was completed in January 2007. Figure 11 illustrates the ERH treatment region including 90 electrode and co-located MPE wells with the equipment compound to the upper right corner of the picture.

Figures 12 and 13 illustrate the TCE concentrations in groundwater in NAPL Area 3 from the interior and exterior monitoring wells, respectively, before and immediately following ERH. Immediately following the ERH remediation in NAPL Area 3, average TCE concentrations in the interior and exterior groundwater monitoring wells declined by an average 98.1% and 77.2%, respectively.

A total of 3,665 pounds of mass was removed from NAPL Area 3. About 50% of the total mass was TCE, about 30% was TPH and the remaining 20% was cis DCE and vinyl chloride.
