Guaranteed Fixed Price Remediation of TCE, PCE and VC in Soil and Bedrock under an Active Manufacturing Facility

Background

TRS Group, Inc., as a subcontractor to St. John Mittelhauser and Associates (SMA), provided a guaranteed fixed price remediation of trichloroethene (TCE), tetrachloroethene (PCE) and vinyl chloride in soil and dolomite bedrock using Electrical Resistance Heating.

The treatment volume was 20,611 cubic yards and remedial goals were to reduce TCE and VC soil concentrations to the 95% upper confidence limit of 13 mg/kg and 1 mg/kg, respectively. The PCE remediation goal was less than 23.8 mg/kg in soil. All remedial goals were achieved in all four treatment areas.

The two videos below depict the actual soil sample data (one area) collected by SMA throughout the remedial operations combined with the temperature data that occurs with each TRS ERH project.

Once portions of the treatment area are confirmed clean, energy input is stopped in those areas and redirected in the remaining contaminant zones. This eliminates wasting energy and saves time and money.
