TRS Group Receives US Patent for the OptiFlux Electrode

Patent Ribbon

LONGVIEW, WA The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued TRS Group (TRS) a patent for the OptiFlux electrode wetting system, used to optimize TRS’s electrical resistance heating (ERH) system.

ERH is a robust groundwater and soil remediation technology that typically removes more than 99% of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from the subsurface. ERH uses the natural resistance of earth materials to electricity to generate heat, converting the liquid and sorbed contaminants to vapors, which TRS removes and treats at the surface. TRS has completed more than 180 ERH projects worldwide.

Daniel Oberle, Vice President of Engineering at TRS, stated, “TRS provides an unmatched ability to input power to the subsurface. Our engineering, design and operations personnel have developed a method to increase electrode performance and power delivery, making TRS’s OptiFlux® remediation services more efficient and sustainable.”

TRS is a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) environmental remediation firm with joint ventures and partnerships in Europe, Brazil, and China. Using our patented thermal remediation and patent pending PerfluorAdTM technologies, we have cleaned more than 180 sites. Our research and development team optimizes energy delivery and focuses on making remediation technologies more sustainable.
